MIAMI, United States, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Renzo Garces and Jairo Velez struck late as Peru recovered from a goal down to beat Haiti 2-1 in a friendly on Friday.
Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor opened the scoring with a 16th-minute strike, but Peru equalized after goalkeeper Johny Placide saved Fabio Gruber's close-range header only for Garces to fire in the rebound.
Velez completed the turnaround three minutes later, thumping a first-time effort past Placide after Haiti failed to deal with a corner.
The match was Haiti's last warmup fixture before the World Cup, which starts on Thursday in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Returning to the World Cup finals after a 52-year absence, Haiti will begin its campaign against Scotland on June 13 before meeting Brazil and Morocco in Group C.
Peru failed to qualify for the tournament after finishing ninth in South America's 10-team qualifying group.
